• No family should face financial burdens: We understand the financial challenges many families face. Through direct financial assistance, we empower families to access vital diagnostic testing, therapeutic interventions, and specialized programs, alleviating some burdens and opening doors to possibilities.
• No child should be excluded: We champion inclusivity and acceptance within the broader community, raising awareness, breaking down barriers, and advocating for a world where all individuals are celebrated for their unique strengths and abilities.

A Story of Hope, Inspiration, and Impact

KNOWAutism Foundation was born from a mother’s love and determination. Driven by her personal journey of finding support for her son, Tammy Tran Nguyen founded our organization with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide a roadmap for other families facing similar challenges. Today, her story inspires countless others, and our impact spans continents:

• Locally: In Houston, our funding for The Stewart Center at The Westview School ensures comprehensive assessments and early intervention for countless children, setting them on a path to success.
• Internationally: We extend our reach beyond borders, supporting Centro de Autismo Cozumel in Mexico. By providing crucial diagnostic services, we help hundreds of children access the support they need.
• Nationally: We recognize that families across the U.S. face similar challenges. Through direct financial assistance, we empower families nationwide to access essential resources and programs, transforming lives closer to home.

 

Where It All Began

Tammy’s Story

After getting through the initial shock of her son’s autism diagnosis, Tammy focused her attention and energy on finding help for her child. Despite her determination, the search for treatments was complicated and frustrating, and Tammy found herself confused and lost.

Finding the right help for her son required a tremendous amount of time and resources. But Tammy eventually discovered that there is an extensive network of well-qualified professionals, both locally and nationally, who are ready to take on the challenge of treating children with autism.

Tammy decided she wanted to share her experiences in order to help provide a roadmap for other families of children who are affected by autism. Her goal was to help make the journey for other families a little easier.

With the support of family and friends, Tammy created the KNOWAutism Foundation to increase autism awareness and help families affected by autism by providing education and resources.

Tammy entered unfamiliar territory by forming a non-profit organization, promoting awareness, and fundraising for her new cause. Although she faced many challenges and obstacles in the beginning, she was blessed with a supportive spouse, encouraging friends, a supportive family, and a group of well-qualified professionals who were willing to commit their time and expertise to get the foundation off the ground.

 

Community Partnerships: Fueling Change Together

We believe that collaboration is key to creating meaningful change. That’s why we forge powerful partnerships with organizations like TUTS/The River and the Houston Ballet. These partnerships bring inclusive arts education and adapted dance opportunities to hundreds of children, fostering joy, expression, and connection through the power of the arts.
